New Years Resolutions: 2012 Edition

My final post of 2011…

 my 2012 New Years Resolutions!

I know you’ve been dying to read them! haha!

1. Find that pesky ever-elusive financial health. Yea, we are starting off 2012 in the same pickle as we started 2011. Hubby hasn’t worked for 2 weeks and he will be off for 3 before he hits the road again. We are going to have to make some serious changes this year. First up, I refuse to any longer be the one who is solely responsible for paying the bills. Its exhausting and not fair.

2. Lose 25 pounds.

3. Be a better Auntie.  I want to be the kind of Aunt that I had as a kid. And I have some pretty fantastic Aunts! 🙂 And I’m not just saying that for the one who may be reading this! She is an awesome lady! 🙂

4. Read more.

5. Try one new recipe every week  (and blog about it.)

6. Keep on blogging.

7. Clean out my email inbox and my WordPress draft boxes. I am not kidding when I say I have over 9,000 emails in my inbox that have never been read. I really need to work on that. It was almost 11,000 last week I did delete a few.

8. Learn how to purge. We have a garage full of stuff that I can’t seem to get rid of. It’s really gotta go.

9. Make my etsy store a real business.  I actually made some pretty okay sales for Christmas. And that was just starting in November. Imagine what I could do if I started before that!

10. Go through and organize the bazillion pictures that are on my computer.

There you have it. I guess a lot of them are more like goals than resolutions. But at least I think most of them are attainable.

I wish you a safe, happy, healthy, prosperous wonderful New Year!

My Summer Reading List: The Results.

I realized the other day that I never updated my Summer Reading List after the first month. Being that my original challenge was to end on September 1st, and here it is the 22nd (and the last day of summer) I figured I’d better share the results.. if you even care anymore! haha!

Here it goes..

The original post:  (Read it here)

Here’s My Final  list: (Blue was from my 1st update, red is this one.)

DONE!1. Bossypants- Tina Fey  I actually am about half way through this. It’s pretty funny, I was laughing just reading the back cover!  I love Tina Fey.  I thought it was funny! The stuff about her doing Sarah Palin was  interesting!

DONE! 2. Naptime is the New Happy Hour-  Stefanie Wilder-Taylor    I started reading this a while ago, then I lost it. After finding that it had fallen behind our bed, I plan on finishing it. It too is pretty funny.  It was amusing. I had a hard time finishing. I know its got “happy hour” in the title… but the amount of times she talks about drinking kind of bugged me.

3. Eat, Pray, Love.  A woman at work bought this for me for my birthday like 3 years ago. I started reading it once. I’d really like to read it in its entirety.

James Patterson is one of my favorite authors. Which is obvious from all of these books that I ordered and havent read.  These next ones are all him:

4. The Postcard Killers- I read about 3 pages of this.. and is currently sitting beside my bed and I have successfully forgotten about it. 😉

5. Swimsuit DONE!

6-8 8th Confession DONE!, 9th Judgement, and 10th Anniversary (I havent gotten 10th anniversary yet since it just came out.. but I really want it!)

9. Worst Case

10. Cross Country

11. I, Alex Cross

12. Relentless- Dean Koontz

13. Your Heart Belongs to Me- Dean Koontz

14. The new Sookie Stackhouse novel . I can’t remember the title. I havent gotten it yet either, but its a must! DONE! The title was Dead Reckoning by the way. I got it from our library’s e-library, which was kinda cool.. I read it on my phone. 🙂

15. The other Charlaine Harris book I bought from a different series.. I also can’t remember the title… I have to find it.

16-? Anything else I get around to reading, should I make it this far down the list. I also currently have 4 books I got for free on my Kindle App on my phone, and a couple that the Teen got that I wouldn’t mind reading either.

ADDED:

DONE!17. The Lost Symbol- Dan Brown This should have been on the list to begin with. I really enjoyed it! I spent about 5 hours on Monday finishing it! I couldnt put it down! :)

DONE! 18. A trashy romance novel I downloaded for free on my Kindle App. :)

 * * * * * * * *

So, I read seven books over the summer. Honestly, considering how much I read before that, I guess its’ not too bad. I just have to be more conscious of how much I’m not reading.. if that made any sense. haha!

What are you reading?

My Summer Reading List

So, way back in January I posted my New Years Resolutions.

 #6 was Read More.

While, I did find some time a few weeks ago to read a little, I am going to make a more conscious effort to do so. And I wasn’t kidding when I said I have 10+ books sitting around waiting for me to read them. (There was a while when we first moved to CA, where I was pre-ordering books constantly, and I never ended up reading them.)

I have decided to compile a Summer Reading List. I’m going to see how many I can read between now and September 1st.

Here it is, in no particular order:

1. Bossypants- Tina Fey  I actually am about half way through this. It’s pretty funny, I was laughing just reading the back cover!  I love Tina Fey.

2. Naptime is the New Happy Hour-  Stefanie Wilder-Taylor    I started reading this a while ago, then I lost it. After finding that it had fallen behind our bed, I plan on finishing it. It too is pretty funny.

4. The Postcard Killers

5. Swimsuit

6-8 8th Confession, 9th Judgement, and 10th Anniversary (I havent gotten 10th anniversary yet since it just came out.. but I really want it!)

9. Worst Case

10. Cross Country

11. I, Alex Cross

The Next 2 are Dean Koontz, one of my other faves!

12. Relentless

13. Your Heart Belongs to Me

I also Looove Charlaine Harris.

14. The new Sookie Stackhouse novel that came out yesterday. I can’t remember the title. I havent gotten it yet either, but its a must!

So there we have it. I’ll keep you informed of my progress, as I’m sure you will be dying to know. 😉
