I have seriously sat down and tried to write about our beach adventure at least 3 different times now. It all keeps turning into this hugely detailed really long ramble about our weekend. I don’t think anyone really wants to know THAT much about the weekend. 🙂
We all ended up having a good time.
Screaming toddler and all. 🙂
We spent a while in traffic getting there, and getting the key to my Brother-in-law’s apartment was an adventure unto itself… but we at least had somewhere to pee and bathe.
Oh, and when i say apartment, I really mean glorified closet. Its teeny tiny. It has a tiny sink, a tiny shower and a tiny stove. The funniest part is my Brother in law is far from a tiny guy! But it’s across the street from the beach, and he loves it.
It turned out the be a beautiful day. It was only probably at most 75, cooler with the wind. There weren’t a ton of people there, which made it so much better. If the heatwave wasn’t over, it would have been a whole other story.
I picked up this sunshade on clearance at Target probably 6 years ago. Its small, but it a great place to hide from the sun, to read or for toddlers to nap.
We also saw a bunch of Brown Pelicans diving into the water to catch their food. It was pretty incredible! I could have sat and watched them all day. It was hard to get a picture of it, they are fast! And we also saw some random wild parrots.
We think hubby got stung by a sting ray while he was in the ocean with K. He thought it was a jellyfish at first, but I don’t think jellyfish can make you bleed like he did.
In the picture below, there are two heads bobbing in the water, that would be hubby and K. I didn’t get in. I am not a fan of not knowing what is underneath me. It freaks me out. KT played in the waves for a while and had a blast. That water was COLD!
These are the kites from all the crazy kite boarders. I didn’t realize that it was really a thing, or that popular. There were a bunch of them, and those kites are HUGE! It was interesting to watch.
We made a nice little castle. Then it was destroyed by a mighty dragon… also known as the crazy toddler. She had just as much fun destroying it as building it.
We walked to 2nd street, which is where all the food, shopping and nightlife is. We ended up just going to Subway, since BIL told us to go the wrong way to go to some other restaurant. It was good though. i was starving and it totally hit the spot. On the way back from eating, we also stopped at an old-fashioned candy store. K was in heaven… she got Dr. Pepper flavored jelly bellies. We got K some jelly beans too. They were super pricey but they loved it. And there’s nothing that will shut a toddler up or make her scream like candy!
That was our day. There was traffic on the way home, and then we stayed up way too late watching weird shows on National Geographic channel.. like “Swamp People” about people who hunt alligators. It was weird, but interesting.
And needless to say- we ALL slept in on Sunday!
And Sunday was full of laundry and togetherness.
