Thursday night babysitting blues

Hi!

It’s 9:45pm on Thursday night.
I’m struggling to stay awake.

I’m babysitting.
The kids are still going strong.
You’d think it was 9:45AM.
Seriously.

I can’t believe any of them are still awake. Especially mine. She was up at 7 and didn’t take a nap. I need a nap.

Or coffee. Coffee would be good fan-freaking-tastic.

Hopefully my friend will be home soon. But it could still be a while. She’s in on a date with her husband. I don’t blame them for staying out. I would too if given the opportunity.

Wish me luck. Or at least a little wish for any one of them to sit still long enough to fall asleep.

UPDATE: it’s now 11:20pm.
One down. Two to go.

Oh, and there was poop.
It’s been quite a while since I changed a poopy child. I definitely don’t miss that.

You know it’s late when the cats I never see come out from their hiding places.

So much for the “new” sofa

There comes a time when your new thing isn’t new anymore.

That thing is our new sofa.

We’ve been super careful around it.. No one is allowed to eat or drink on it. To keep it “new” for as long as possible.

Then you hear..

“Mama, I threw up on the new couch.”

Which turns out to be not as horrible as you imagined… It cleans up quite well and doesn’t leave any weird marks.

Then you hear…

“Mama, I cut the new couch.”

Sigh.. It’s definitely not new anymore.

Our new addition!

Hi there!

I’ve got some time to kill this morning, so I thought I’d actually post something for you!

Our big excitement is that we got a new bed and a new sofa over the weekend!

It’s a big deal in our house! This is the first time we have EVER had brand new furniture! It’s fabulous!

20130410-091146.jpg
And it fit perfectly! Totally meant to be!

When we went shopping that day, we were planning on just buying a mattress. We have needed a new one for a few years… If for no other reason just so hubby fits on it. We had a queen size and his feet hung off the end! He’s 6’7″! So we got a fabulous California king! It’s so big and comfy!

Anyway.. We had started talking about getting a new sofa. We had found a couple sectionals on Craig’s list that we wanted to check out. And then when we were at the furniture store looking at mattresses we saw that we could get a new one for close to what they were asking for a used one.. So we came home with a sofa & a mattress!

And we have decided to have a yard sale next weekend to get rid of our old couches… Which has inspired me to get spring cleaning and purging. I’ve got quite a get rid of pile going! Hopefully I will be making it even bigger today!

Oh well.. That’s all our news! Enjoy your Wednesday! ūüôā

Hi. Remember me?

It’s me.. the long, long lost not-so-wicked Step Mom.

I can’t believe how long its been since I posted anything.

I think about it all the time, and I haven’t really had any time¬†or inclination in ages.

I don’t even know where to start…

The kids-

Well, the Teen is loving high school. Yes, she’s in high school now, and loving every minute of it. She is on spring break this week, and can’t wait to go back. I think I have the only kid in America that loves high school. Shes doing pretty well in her classes. We’ve had some issues with her grades this year, but she seems to be doing much better this semester.¬† Things are pretty much the same with her “mother”. She hasn’t spoken to her in about 3 years now. The woman did sort of rear her ugly head on the Teen’s birthday.. but I think that was only because I told her to.

THe “Mother” had posted on her Facebook page “Happy Birthday to my beautiful and wonderful Teen.” I saw RED when I saw the post. I don’t know where she gets off trying to pretend that she has any relationship with her daughter…. I wanted to post a comment on the status, but I can’t stoop to her level.. so I sent her a private message that said “I think your birthday wishes might be more effective if you put them somewhere she might actually see them. A text might be fine.” Naturally, she didnt have her phone number so I had to give that to her… and she did text and call. But the Teen was far from impressed.¬† And she hasnt really heard from her since.¬† Whatever.

The Maniac just turned 5. She has been in Preschool since August and LOVES it! She is very sad that she is going to have to leave her teacher and go to Kindergarten. I get to register her for Kindergarten next week.. which I’m freaking out about a little. Its crazy that she’s going to be in real school. I try not to think about it all that much… my brain may explode. ūüėČ

As for me.. hubby & I celebrated our 10th anniverasry back in January. Which is very cool, and kind of crazy. He has not been traveling very much lately which has been awesome.

The last post I did write, I told you about my business. That is the main reason I have not had a moment to do anything. I have been busier than I ever dreamed I could be! It is amazing.

Business really started picking up in July & August.. and it has been NONSTOP since September. I don’t know how it got it all done. I’m finally in a place where I dont have a ton of orders hanging over my head this week.¬†I have a few, but nothing urget or super huge. Its been a welcome change. I love it! I sort of complain about it sometimes, but I¬†do love¬†every mnute of it!

I don’t¬†think my house enjoys it.. since It has kind of gone to hell in a handbasket since I got¬†busy. I think I need to take a week off¬†for spring¬†cleaning. I’ll get it done somehow. ūüôā

So, that is that. I can’t promise I will be¬†super regular in my posting.. but I am going to try to post¬†again in less than a year! ūüôā

Hope you are well!

I’m in business!

So, it’s official.
I have a business.
For real.

It’s totally crazy.

I’m all legit.

I have a sellers permit, a business license and an officially filed fictitious name.

The only thing left is a bank account.

But I guess I need money before I can get that.

I also have a Facebook page, a twitter account, a pinterest page, a (one month free trial) website and blog.

Not to mention the etsy store… And the shop on thecraftstar.com (if they ever get it fixed).

I think I’ve covered all the bases.

Now I just need people to buy stuff.

But, of they buy stuff from all the places they can buy stuff at once,
I’m screwed. LOL

It’s been far too long…

It has been way way too long since I last posted. I think I’ve been saying that at the start of all my posts as of late…

I think about writing every day.. I really do… Then somehow my day escapes me.

Right now, I am sitting outside while the maniac destroys the back yard and torments the dog. Her new favorite thing is digging holes and “planting” seeds. We did make her a little garden. She started all the plants from seeds and they seem to actually be growing. With the exception of a couple things a certain canine has dug up.

20120511-110005.jpg
There is corn, a couple pumpkins, carrots, parsley, cosmos (a flower) and California poppies. She lives to water them. Oh, and her little fish “Swimmy” is also buried in the garden. She waters him every day too. (well, she thinks she does.. There is a very good chance the dog dug him up and ate him. Yuck.)

Speaking of little Swimmy, may he rest in peace… The poor little guy only lasted month, and the Maniac LOVED him! Now, We have a new fish that she named Marshall. ( She wanted to name him Marcia, but being a boy she changed it). He’s a cool guy. A Betta fish.. In the morning he comes up the the top and waits for you to feed him. It’s almost like the maniac gets to hand feed him.

Oh, So my other excitement. I’m going to go file the permits & licenses make my etsy store a real honest tax paying business today. I know, I should have done it a while ago.. But better late than never right?

I’m kind of a little nervous about it.
And excited. But nervous.

Hopefully I will have time to get it all done. My friend can’t watch the maniac until 2. Keep your fingers crossed that the lines aren’t long! I have 3 offices to hit!

OH! Before I forget! I do want to send a shout out to the Accidental Stepmom, a fellow stepmom and blonde, (who’s blog I adore btw! You should read it!) who also didn’t know that Narwhals were real! And after she mentioned my post in her blog- it seems that we are not the only ones! YES! Hahaha!

There’s only a couple weeks of 8th grade for the Teen! Yikes! Then she’ll be in HIGH SCHOOL! Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!
It seems like just yesterday that she was starting first grade! Such a long time ago! This summer will mark 8 years that she’s lived with us. CRAZY!

I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself one in high school and one in preschool!

On a somewhat random note- I’m going to work on my summer reading list. I honestly don’t think I have read a book since last years list.. So I really need to get on that!

I’m going to leave you with this.. The maniac at the park a couple weeks ago, with ducks who walk on the sidewalk!
Have a great weekend!

Mean Girl Down!

A few weeks ago I wrote about the anonymous crayon scrawled hate letter that I got in the mail. You can read it here if you have no idea what I’m talking about.

I think the drama is finally over. Whew!

It turns out that it was (most likely) not who I thought it was.

I kept it quiet for a few weeks. Then, in a sort of calculated move.. I told one person. Let’s call her “The Mouth” (hahaha).¬† I told her and she “swore on her children’s¬†lives” that she wouldn’t tell a soul. I knew she would tell the Organizer, little did I realize she would¬†tell EVERYONE.

One friday¬†night, there was a Mamma’s Night Out, where 8 moms from the group gathered and had dinner. I did not go. (Thankfully) But my best friend in the group did. (Also thankfully.) It seems that in the middle of dinner, The mouth tells everyone about the letter and basically says “Which one of you did it?”¬† Then proceeds to throw¬†the Organizer¬†under the bus and say she did it.¬† After that, there was lots of talking crap about all the people who weren’t there.

So, the next morning, I wake up to a FB message from one of the other ladies saying how horrible she¬†thought the letter was and she couldn’t¬†believe someone would do that. I guess the cat was out of the bag.

After a series of phone calls and text messages with different people all day Saturday- One thing became increasingly clear. The Mouth was the one who seemed the most guilty.  She was quick to accuse everyone else, she kept bringing it up, and I was starting to see all the crap she was talking about everyone else.

Interesting.

I finally talked to the Organizer  Monday.

She said “do you know who I think did it?”

We both said “the mouth” at the same time.

After talking to the Organizer for quite a while, I decided to just confront the Mouth myself. Put an end to all this crazy drama nonsense.

And that’s what I did.

The next day, I stopped at her house. I rang the doorbell. She wasnt home. Just as I was pulling away from her house she got there.

I started by saying:

“I am done with all of this talking behind everyone’s back, drama bullshit. Did you write the letter??”

She was appalled that I would suggest such a thing. I personally believe that no one has ever called her on her crap before.

She “swears on her children’s¬†lives” that she didn’t do it.

I said “just like you swore on their lives that you wouldn’t tell anyone about the letter?”

There was heated conversation after that. She swore she didn’t do it, but really, she’d never fess up. Not backed in a corner like that.

The whole thing ended by her yelling “I hope who ever did send it dies! I hope they die in a car accident!!!!”

Seriously. That is exactly what she said.

Then she closed her garage door in my face.

It was crazy. I felt a little bad for making her cry.. but really, her guilt was really becoming more obvious.

Of course, after that happened, she posted a message on the Groups message board about what a horrible person I am and how i showed up at her house yelling accusations at her. Whatever.  After that the Organizer kicked her out of the group.

And after people starting comparing notes, it became increasingly clear that the Mouth was really the root of a lot of things. She would talk about EVERYONE behind their backs, even her “closest friends.” And tell blatant lies too. I think the girl was pathological.

And all of her lies finally caught up with her all at the same time.

I think three people called her on the same day confronting her about things she said about them. Of course she denied everything. I guess we are all liars and not her.

I really hope the Mouth has learned some lessons through this whole debacle. I know I have.

My wish for the Mouth, is that when she moves out-of-state this summer, that she can start fresh, and really change her life and be a better person. For the sake of all her potential new friends and for her daughters.

I’m just glad its (hopefully) over. The organizer and I have had several really good talks.¬† And I feel like we are in a really good place right now. We are going to try to move forward.

But I’m still going to watch my back. ūüėČ
